Marcela Explains Rolfing®
What to Expect at a Rolfing® Session with Marcela
For first-time Rolfing clients, sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes. Marcela has allocated an additional 15 minutes to accommodate orientation to the clinic, in-depth discussions about your goals and history, and the completion of any pending intake forms. The practical table time typically spans 75 to 85 minutes of the 90-minute session.
Returning clients enjoy 90-minute Rolfing sessions. Since returning clients have previously shared their health history and overarching treatment objectives, the intake conversation can be more concentrated on the goals for that specific session. The table time generally occupies 75 to 85 minutes within the 90-minute session.
THE TEN SERIES
PHASE ONE:
1. Freeing the shoulder and pelvis, and allowing for improved breathing.
2. Establish equal support on both legs/feet from the ground, improving ankle and foot functionality.
3. Work the sides of the body, which balances the relationship between the front/back and fleshes out a sense of 3-dimensionality.
PHASE TWO:
4. Work the inside of the legs from the feet to the pelvis, beginning to establish core support for the pelvic floor.
5. Balance superficial and deep structures in the abdominal region, continuing to build the core.
6. Free the sacrum and lengthen the back line of the body.
7. Relate the head and neck to the rest of the body.
Phase three:
8 & 9. Integrate functional movement into the core of the body.
10. Scan the entire body and relate it to itself as best as possible, sealing things back up. The client is ready to continue their journey on their own.
